“The day my girlfriend died”

Lyrics to my new song. In process of recording a video.

“The day my girlfriend died”

It is such a beautiful day today, as I’m always on the run

I think I’d better hit the gas, as I have to pick up mum

As usual she was there on time; she was such a lovely soul

I loved just every ounce of her, her hair was dark as coal

I remembered that day years ago, at the mission I picked her up

She was talking there to all her friends; in her hand she held a cup

A little spot of tea you know, is what she liked the best

The tea they say that hits the spot, is the one with a little zest

Chorus

What is life all about, I’m trying to understand

It has its twists and turns, I envisioned it more Grande

Disappointments and sadness too, has taken it’s toll on me

I’m hurting on the inside; I’m lonely as can be

Yes, I’m hurting on the inside; I’m lonely as can be

As she got into my car that day, we were on our way home

She gave me news I didn’t want, I could tell just by her tone

You know your old girlfriend Cathy, I’m sorry to tell you son

Last night you know she passed away, went to her Heavenly home

Instantly my eyes were blurred and I found it hard to drive

Tears came streaming down my face and I began to cry

I said O’ mum my heart is broken I loved her oh so much

She was such a beautiful Christian too, as she always went to church

She went to sleep that Saturday night I wonder how she felt

As she prayed her last prayer at her bed as she knelt

Lying in bed her head was sore, maybe thought she had a cold

An aneurysm would occur and God would take her soul

She knew one day she’d go to Heaven, she believed in God’s son

She didn’t think she would go this soon, at the age of twenty one

God had different plans; we know that this was plain to see

As she slept upon her bed that night, God just set her free
